Zeus is a 7 year old zonkey (zebra x donkey) gelding that is funny as all can be. Honestly, this guy doesn’t fit our mold, but who creates that mold anyway?
This guy is halter broke, and green BROKE to ride! This guy came from a home with children. Does that mean he is kid safe? Absolutley not, but he is friendly and very accustomed to being fed treats as a family pet.
He ties, trailers, brushes, is good in a stall, paddock, or pasture. He is good in the herd and has lived with mares and geldings. Sometimes you can catch him, other times it will be a little game of tag.
I don’t really know what he could be used for to be quite honest. Natural herd protector? Lawn mower? He does ride, but I cannot say he is ready to take on any real job without a bit more work. I would not put anyone inexperienced on him as he can act a bit flightly in very new situations.
Realize that zebras are NOT domesticated. Crossed with the stubbornness of a donkey, there is primal tendencies to take place. This is NOT your kid’s next playday adventure, unless of course you don’t like your kid. However, Zeus is used to guests, visitors, and attention, and really is pretty fun to have around.
