Drinking The Coleaid
“Tibbs” is a brown, (almost) black gelding by NRR Cat King Cole, the son of High Brow Cat that won over $230k in the NCHA. His dam, RWS Miss Goldie Oak, is by a good son of Gallo del Cielo (Rooster), and has produced over $50k herself.
Tears may be shed by every staff member here when he leaves my barn. Tibbs has become a mascot to my program, and greets every single person who comes through our door. He is beyond in your pocket. If he could jump in the front seat of your car and go for a ride, I bet he would.
“Mr. Tibbs” or “Tibbs” for short, is a finished cutter that came directly out of the trainers barn. He had been kept in a consecutive training program since 2021 before walking into our life. This guy not only has a ton of cow to him, and has shown he knows a job in the pen, but he is a BLAST to keep at home.
After my short stint of showing cutting horses in the southeast, this guy landed in my lap up north with an unclear vision if he would be my personal hobbiest, or offered immediately to our client base. He stuck around, and well, time nor drive never got me to enter him anywhere myself.
He rides like a pleasure horse at home in the arena – with a bridle or without one. The moment a cow or the flag comes into the picture, he goes from a toy, to a weapon. He is pretty hot minded on a cow, but comes back right to his playful self when you’re doing elsewise in the arena.
As we said, we have enjoyed him here – and that means he has been trail ridden, used outside, and does all of our “funny” things a stern minded show professional might squint at. These things happen when you really never have a plan for them to leave. I would not be surprised if his next home will be his forever, because somebody is going to get him and not let him go.
Do NOT let his relationship weight fool you. He CAN be a weapon, even with the extra love on him. These cutters have proven to go off and succeed at nearly any job you throw at them: they are tearing up the barrel pen, pulling checks in the roping arena, winning buckles in the sorting, or, to be honest, Tibbs could be loved at home and be your family’s golden retriever. We have come to know this horse inside and out. Ask away, and we will tell!
