“Rolex” is a 2022 AQHA palomino gelding that is absolutely stunning. “Barbie Horse” is the only thing that comes to mind. Rich golden palomino color, a HUGE white mane and tail, pretty headed, and built exactly how everyone wants one. Standing just a tick under 14.3 hands, he’s the perfect size for just about anyone, and the kind that turns heads everywhere he goes.
This guy is sired by ARC Gunnabeabigstar (LTE $324k), a son of Gunnatrashya and out of a daughter of Wimpys Little Step, combining two of the most influential names the reining industry has ever produced. On the bottom side, he is out of Juiced To The Brim, a producing daughter of the legendary Smart Like Juice, one of the greatest sires the cow horse and reining industries have ever seen.
Under saddle, this guy is everything you’d expect him to be. This is one of the far and few moments where pretty meets perfect. He’s quiet, honest, and the kind of gelding that wants to do right every single ride. This guy is safe. Like, Grandma safe – and I am not afraid to say it. He’s forgiving, level-headed, and has the kind of disposition that makes people comfortable the minute they swing a leg over him.
This gelding is a HUGE stopper. He’ll absolutely bury his hind end in the ground when you ask him to whoa, and he naturally wants to carry himself soft and low. Now, if you’re shopping for your next Open reining horse, this probably isn’t your guy. He simply doesn’t have the turnaround to compete at that level, and we’re honest about that. Actually, to be honest, he doesn’t have a turn-around at all. What he does have is every other quality people spend years searching for: he’s good looking, broke, fancy, exceptionally gentle, and enjoyable every single day.
Oh, and even better. He trail rides! He rides outside the arena and has out near our longhorn cattle. He rides down the road, out by our woods, and has crossed running water. We have flapped tarps on him, swung ropes over his head, carried flags on him, and given pony rides to kids as young as 2 on his back.
I personally think this gelding is best suited for ranch riding, ranch versatility, or simply being the kind of horse the entire family can enjoy. He has all the right buttons, a phenomenal stop, and a quiet enough mind that almost anyone can appreciate him. Horses don’t have to be futurity champions to be great horses, and this guy is a perfect example of that.
