“Scout” is a gorgeous 9 year old buckskin gelding with “everything” the people love. He has a pretty head, a huge hip, buckskin color, and just by looking at him you know he is missing absolutely NO meals.
Up until this point in his life, this guy has not had much of any job other than to be on the trails. I was told he was an old ladies trail horse that essentially got a bit spoiled, and needed a mild refresher.
This guy is the kind of easy going somebody would love as a pet. He wants to be in your pocket, all the time, and simply goes where you point him. HIs passion seems to lie is as a trail horse deluxe, I will give him that! – he crosses water, bridges, hills, rocks, and walks flat footed through our cow pasture. He can go out by himself or tag along and follow a buddy. He has been exposed to all of our funny stuff, and doesn’t bat twice about it.
We saddled this guy up for his first ride back without even a hump in his back. He didn’t skip a beat! Honestly, the worst thing he will do is not stop looking for treats. He may need a fire put underneath him if you want to start getting some work done, but expect to saddle the same horse, every day, to simply plod around the farm on!
He does have the athleticism to make a stellar ranch or working horse in the right hands once you dust off some more buttons. He knows his leads and really does want to stop. He is young enough to learn a new trade, or, keep going down the trail and be happy as can be.
