Boomer is a 7 year old APHA gelding by a son of Nu Bar (NCHA $16k+) by Doc Bar! His dam is a daughter of the infamous Gay Bar O Lena.
If you do your research, you’re right. This guy is OVER 20% DOC BAR by Blood! He has the classic style quarter horse look, feel, and ride. Up until this point in his life, this guy has not had much of any job other than to be on the trails. He was recently listed in an online auction, and did not reach his reserve, so here he is!
This guy is mellow yellow. He doesn’t have a huge motor to go unless asked, and where his passion seems to lie is as a trail horse deluxe, I will give him that! He crosses water, bridges, hills, rocks, and will go whichever way you point him. He can go out by himself or tag along and follow a buddy. He has been exposed to all of our funny stuff, and doesn’t bat twice about it – not that you will run into a yoga ball out on the trail, but I guess these days you never know.
This guy sat for a few years out in the pasture with some older owners, and saddled up his first ride back without even a hump in his back. He didn’t skip a beat! He may need a fire put underneath him if you want him to start a real job, but expect to saddle the same horse, every day, to simply plod around the trails on!
He does have the athleticism to make a stellar ranch or working horse in the right hands once you add some buttons. He knows his leads and really does want to stop. He is young enough to learn a new trade, or, keep going down the trail and be happy as can be.
