“Rip” is a tall, dark, handsome gelding by of the hottest sires in the barrel racing industry, HP Dash Ta Fiesta. HP Dash Ta Fiesta was the product of two horses changing the industry: Dash Ta Fame, and Kelly Yates’s infamous mare, Firewater Fiesta.
His dam is a daughter of Cowan Dancer, by Pat Cowan (Sunfrost) who was crossed on a Colonel Freckles mare. He is what I would call a combination of old school, and new school. For being “just bay,” this guy is gorgeous. He has so much height, mass, and size, you so quickly forget he is only a 2020 baby. He stands 15.1 hands and has to weigh 1300 lbs.
This guy has been ridden inside and outside the arena. He was started on the pattern, hauled to see sights, and is on track for his juvenile year. Outside of a few turns around the cans, he has moved cows out in Colorado. He has been exposed to swinging a rope, roped the dummy, desensitized to the tarp, and other “funny” things.
He also has been trail ridden more than most his age, crossing water, gravel roads, or plodding along outside at home. He has a big, animated movement to him and can keep his head tucked up like a broke one should. No buck, no funny business. He has stepped out of a box stall at 3 weeks alfalfa fresh, and loped clean off.
This guy screams big time, somewhere, with the right person. He is willing and wants to be good, and THAT work ethic is something you can’t train into one. The money in the rope horse futurities are huge, here is a chance to be apart of it with a HEAD horse sized prospect that the wife is going to want to take on the off days.
