“Redford” is a 2021 AQHA gray gelding that checks a lot of boxes people are constantly searching for. Big, pretty, thick made, good boned, and built exactly how a using horse should be built. This gelding has the kind of structure and foot underneath him that gives you confidence he’s going to hold up and stay useful for a long time. I personally was never a fan of a “grey, almost white” horse – and yet the first photo I ever saw of him, I really thought to myself “that is a really nice looking horse”. Build will always outshine color in my book.
What makes him even more special is that he is a true one owner horse. I personally bought him directly from the people who raised him, owned him his entire life, and put the start on him themselves. Horses with that kind of history and consistency behind them are getting harder and harder to find.
His papers may not have any huge money earning names that people are jumping at air for these days. However, on the pedigree side, he carries old school ranch and using horse bloodlines throughout his papers. He goes back to Tee J Royal Seven, OT Seven Come Eleven, Cowboys Ace High, and Little Doc Express, giving him the kind of foundation breeding known for producing practical, durable horses with good minds and plenty of ability.
This gelding rides around quiet and willing with a great attitude every day you pull him out. He rides inside or outside of an arena. He knows his leads, and wants to be soft. He has never bucked, reared, or ran off a day in his life. He rides out confidently on the trails has the kind of steady, sensible mind that makes him enjoyable both inside and outside a set of four walls. He’s the type that feels like a real horse underneath you. Solid, honest, and uncomplicated.
He’s sound, level headed, and has the kind of easygoing personality that makes him enjoyable to have around the barn. He has good bone, excellent feet, and strong overall conformation that really stand out in person. If you’re looking for a big gray gelding with a clean history, good breeding, strong conformation, and the kind of foundation people try hard to find, this guy deserves a serious look.
