“Coolio” is a 2019 APHA palomino gelding by the NRHA earner “Hollywood Cool Gun”, by the great $12 million sire Colonels Smoking Gun (Gunner), who was crossed on a daughter of Hollywood Heat (Hollywood Dun It).
On the bottom side, his dam is by the Multiple World and Reserve Champion, Special Invitation, son of the great Invitation Only.
To start, this guy has so many things everyone is after. He is a true 15.2 hands, he has a true bald face, loads of chrome, and a personality to boot. This gelding has an ARHA show record of his own, having been successfully shown by both Senior and Novice riders. He’s been hauled and shown in multiple ranch rail, trail, and versatility classes.
Coolio has every button you will want on one to have fun. He has a huge, floating trot that is effortless to sit and exactly the kind of movement people are looking for in today’s ranch riding pen. He has a slow, correct turnaround, naturally wants to stay soft, and is broke enough to ride bridleless. He has also been trail ridden extensively and is just as happy covering country outside the arena as he is riding around inside.
Now, we also believe in advertising horses honestly. While his pedigree is packed with some of the greatest reining bloodlines in the industry, he is not a reining prospect. Standing every bit of 15.2 hands, he simply isn’t built for that job, and he does not have the kind of stop you’d expect to compete in reining. Rather than trying to fit him into the wrong discipline, we think his talents point him toward ranch riding, ranch versatility, trail riding, and being an exceptional all-around partner. Surely, he’s proven that is where he belongs.
This guy requires absolutely no special maintenance. He wears regular steel shoes, and lives off water, hay, and 2lbs of grain a day. That is all it takes to make this guy look and work his absolute best. Did we mention, he was purchased directly from a vet? Vet owned and vet maintained. This guy has never gone without anything.
This guy has a personality plus. He loves to be loved on. He has packed riders here as young as 7 on his back, and has never made a wrong move for us. There is not a lick of funny business to this guy. He has excellent manners on the ground, and in the saddle, and truly loves being the center of attention. Some show horses prefer to work, others want to be loved on. Give his guy both, and he will give you the world.
